PTSA Board Members sought for the 2019-2020 School Year
The Madison PTSA Board is searching for parent leaders interested in working to support the Madison Middle School Community – parents, staff and students alike.
The current board has served together for two years, and consists of mostly 8th Grade parents, most have students moving on to high school. We are very fortunate to have returning nominees for our Co-Treasurer positions.
Open Elected Positions for 2019-2020:
President – The Madison PTSA President presides over monthly board meetings, general meetings (3) and coordinates with the school administration. There is less of a time commitment than at the elementary school level. Being a good communicator, being aware of the school’s schedule and the PTSA calendar, and enjoying meeting staff are very helpful in this job. This is a great job to share with a friend, as co-presidents!
Vice President, Fundraising – The VP of Fundraising coordinates the fundraising efforts during the Back to School Drive, Direct Drive, and the annual Fundraising Event. Works with the Event Chair and attends meetings.
Vice President, Programs – The VP of Programs, works on Parent Education and helps with planning the General Meetings. May serve as back up for the President and attends meetings.
Secretary – The Secretary takes minutes and attendance during the meetings, both Board and General.
Legislative Liaison – This Advocacy position is for someone that is interested in communicating with parents about issues, whether in Olympia or at the School District, and working to find ways that parents can participate. Attends meetings and may attend broader level PTA events. Also a good job to share!
Open Appointed Position:
Music Boosters – The Music Boosters Chair is also a member of the PTSA Board, as the Music budget is a part of the PTSA budget. This person will communicate with music parents on behalf of the music teachers, help coordinate a sweatshirt order, help coordinate the Swing Dance fundraiser. Attends PTSA meetings and music concerts.
Building Leadership Team Position Open: The BLT Parent Representative attends a weekly morning BLT meeting and will be interested in providing a parent perspective to conversations and decisions made by the BLT, most members are staff representing different areas at the school. This is not a PTSA position, but traditionally the BLT Parent Representative has joined the PTSA Board to communicate back and forth. Those interested in the BLT position can contact the current Representative, Heather Hsu at firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Those interested in being nominated or appointed to the PTSA Board will be required to become PTSA members.
